Pumsavana
30 01 2010Pumsavana in Ayurveda is a procedure to convert the gender at the choice. Fundamentally all human are of female only, i.e. the dominance of the estrogen is a common phenomena. The gender formation in the foetal life begins in the first month of the development process. Many hypotheses are established regarding the gender establishment. Ayurveda describes the three way gender conversional methods.
1) Preconception,
2) Post-conception and
3) Post-delivery.
Preconception is much with the food and the tactic conversion of the dominant estrogens in to the testosterone dominant by the foods. It is established that the Aswagandha usage as a Preconception drug makes the testosterone to develop and there by the chances of getting a male baby becomes choice. If any Vidari combination is used before or at the conception the born baby is always female as the Vidari enriches the estrogen.
Post-conception technique is followed much in gender conversion as on today. The drugs used for this purpose are many viz. Lakshmana, Vatankura, etc. In this technique nasal administration of the drug either right or left makes the gender fixation respectively as male or female. Present day society doesn’t demand left nasal Pumsavana and always the male is the choice. Here, the estrogen dominance is regretted and testosterone production is brought forward in androgynous baby of first month.
Post-delivery, is a rare in history but examples are existing. After the birth if a male wish to become female or vice versa, the medicines and surgical procedures are available. Vidari is such an herb, induces gynocomastia in males and shapes for females. The rest of feminine characters are brought by Sex reassignment surgery from male to female or even female to male. What is the Necessity of Sex Change - only the person who undergoes can tell.
